Crowdstrike Microsoft Windows Outage

Major Global IT Outage Takes Down Systems Around The World

American cybersecurity company, CrowdStrike, and Microsoft suffer a monumental, worldwide outage.

You probably woke up this morning to hear the world was flipped into utter turmoil. Microsoft systems all across the globe have suddenly ceased to function, affecting shops, banks, airlines, medical practices and many more. Millions of accounts of Windows 10 PCs crashing, showing the Blue Screen of Death, and being unable to reboot have been reported around the world*.

This detrimental IT outage has allegedly been linked back to Crowdstrike: a cybersecurity company based in Austin, Texas. The issue has allegedly been caused by a “buggy” Crowdstrike update to their cloud-based platform, Falcon Sensor.

Experts say the outage could last “quite some time”, according to the Daily Mail.

Crowdstrike has released a statement on their website, saying “Crowdstrike is aware of reports of crashes on Windows related to the Falcon Sensor”

Currently, there are no real hints as to when all systems will be back up and running again.

This event has truly highlighted the prevalence of technology in the modern world, proving just how much we rely upon it in daily life, and the importance of getting it right.
