A Success Story: Rickerby
Rickerby Case Study
Established in 1880 and completely family-owned, this Cumbrian business had 8 branches based from Lancashire across to Durham and up to Edinburgh prior to this project, soon to expand to include an additional branch later in the year. Especially known for their main franchise of CLAAS machinery, Rickerby is a key element in the farming community, only becoming more popular with time.
After a fantastic increase in traffic to their private network for training, updates and more, Rickerby began noticing a need for a speedier IPVPN. For 20 years, Rickerby were reliant on an MPLS network which proved to be incapable of keeping up with current and certainly future demand.
The decision to switch networks through Logic Business Solutions came lightly, due to Zen’s exceptional reputation, a positive existing relationship with Logic, and a drive to support local businesses; “we find we get a better service and it benefits the local economy more [when we use local brokers]… when we learned that Logic also provided the Zen services, we were happy to have the opportunity to use Logic as our broker” – Neil Platton.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, deployment of Zen took longer than initially planned. Once the process began, however, it was a generally smooth transition into a faster, more reliable future for Rickerby’s private network. Platton praised the planning and execution from Logic and especially highlighted the hard work and diligence of Technical Development Manager, Maxi Drexel, stating that “project management was exemplary and nothing was too much trouble… when issues did arise, Maxi reacted quickly, at all hours, to resolve them”.
Rickerby’s upgrade to Zen has been key in allowing their business to continuously evolve, giving users a quicker, more fluid web experience and future-proofing their network. This Carlisle-based agriculture and horticulture machinery dealer, Rickerby, now revels in a speedy IPVPN upgrade to award-winning Zen, courtesy of Logic Business Solutions, to keep up with booming business.
“We have had very few issues with our network since the deployment,” says Neil, “The Zen infrastructure has worked impeccably.”
